Although in theory the appropriate management of the ’hard’ side of an organisation – such as process optimisation, cost-control and customer-satisfaction – results in a stronger organisation, the difference is only really seen and felt once these measures have been implemented in the correct manner and supported by the staff. This in turn requires a management style focused on ensuring that the staff are involved in the required change right from the very beginning, that the staff understand why the change is necessary, and that the staff perceive the new environment as doing full justice to their capabilities.
